What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is a traditional Chinese medicine treatment that uses negative pressure applied to the skin’s surface to lift and stretch soft tissues such as the skin, fascia, and muscles, achieving pain relief and treating various conditions. Typically, a fire is lit inside the cup or a pump is used to extract air, creating localized negative pressure. The cup is then placed on the skin, attaching to the surface and causing local congestion. This process helps to relax the underlying tissues, increasing blood flow and metabolism in the subcutaneous layers, ultimately regulating body functions and improving various conditions.
